Hand-Crafted Visual Identity

As part of a university brief, I was tasked with creating a full brand identity for a boutique independent bookseller. The goal was to design a brand that felt established and rooted in literary tradition, while still appealing to a modern, design-conscious audience.

I explored numerous lettering styles and logo compositions, sketching by hand to experiment with form and typographic personality before digitising. The final identity combines classic serif typography with a hand-rendered monogram, striking a balance between heritage and contemporary craft. The visual language extends across print collateral — business cards, signage, and packaging — creating a tactile, bookish feel reminiscent of specialty bookstores and second-hand literary finds.

The result is a distinctive brand system that feels warm, characterful, and deeply tied to the sensory experience of browsing books — proof that a thoughtful, hands-on design process can turn a simple brief into a rich visual narrative.
